LINKSPLIT HELP

Link expiration

Stop normal redirects after a visit limit, a time limit, or whichever comes first.

Configure expiration

  1. Create a link or open Edit on an existing link.
  2. Turn on Link expiration, if included in your plan.
  3. Enter a Visit limit, a Time limit, or both. Choose seconds, minutes or days for the time limit.
  4. Optionally enter a Destination after expiration.
  5. Select Save link.

A blank or zero limit means no limit for that condition. With both limits set, the first condition reached expires the link. For example, a link with 100 visits and a 2-day duration expires when it reaches 100 visits or passes two days from creation.

Time is measured from creation

A time limit is a duration from the original creation time, not from the latest edit. Setting a one-day time limit on a link created a week ago makes it expired immediately. Extending a duration does not start a fresh timer.

Visits and tracked clicks

The visit limit counts redirects, including visits that cannot be tracked because the monthly analytics allowance has been reached. It is not a count of unique people or conversions. Opening a link yourself can consume visits. Previewing it through /preview does not consume a routing visit.

After expiration

Without an expiration destination, visitors see a link-expired page. With an expiration destination, they are sent to that external URL instead of the normal destination or rotator. The expiration destination must pass URL validation and safety checks.

The Dashboard marks expired links. Expiration does not delete the link or free its active link slot.

Extend or remove expiration

Edit the link to raise a limit or turn expiration off, then save. Disabling expiration clears its visit and time conditions; clear the optional expiration destination too if you no longer need it.

Reset stats clears the visit-expiration counter as well as analytics. That can make a visit-expired link active again. Resetting statistics does not change the original creation time, so a time-expired link stays expired unless you change its time condition.
