LINKSPLIT HELP

Retargeting pixels & consent

Save platform IDs, attach pixels to links and control visitor consent.

Supported platforms

LinkSplit supports Meta Pixel, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising (Bing) and X. You need the pixel or tag ID from the corresponding platform. Saving an ID in LinkSplit does not create a pixel account with that provider.

Save and attach a pixel

  1. Open the Dashboard’s Pixels tab and select Add a pixel, or use Add pixel in the link editor.
  2. Enter a recognizable name, select the platform and paste its ID. Enter the ID rather than a complete script snippet.
  3. Select Save pixel.
  4. Create or edit a link, select the saved pixel under Retargeting pixels, then save the link.

You can save pixels once and reuse them across links. Each link supports up to 10 selected pixels; your plan also limits how many pixels you can save in your account. Saving a pixel alone does not attach it to all your links.

Turn on Tracking consent in the link editor and save. When that link has active pixels, visitors are asked before pixel scripts start. Visitors who accept continue after pixel loading; visitors who decline continue to the destination without loading those pixels.

With the switch off, selected pixel scripts can load without this consent prompt. This setting applies to the pixels on the short-link redirect page. It does not control tracking on the destination website.

Declining pixels does not disable LinkSplit’s aggregate click analytics. A redirect can be counted before a visitor makes a pixel-consent choice. Use the consent setting appropriate for your campaign and explain your own tracking in your privacy information.

What visitors see

Links with active pixels can show an intermediate redirect page while provider scripts load. Loading may be blocked by the visitor’s browser, extensions or network, so a tracked LinkSplit click does not guarantee a pixel event in the advertising platform.

At the monthly tracked-click limit, links continue to redirect but analytics and pixels pause. See monthly usage.

Edit or delete saved pixels

Manage saved pixels from the Pixels tab. Editing a saved pixel changes the configuration used by links that select it. Deleting a saved pixel removes it from use while those links continue to redirect.

Older links may display a Legacy pixel in their editor. Selected saved pixels take precedence. Use the checkbox to remove a legacy pixel when migrating that link to your saved pixels.
