LINKSPLIT HELP

Troubleshooting & support

Resolve common account, link, tracking and domain problems.

I cannot create or edit links

Check the Dashboard for an unverified email, pending approval, expired trial or account restriction. Resend verification if needed, choose a plan for an expired trial, or contact support about approval and other restrictions. Enable JavaScript for the link editor.

Link creation limits apply per account: up to 50 links per minute, 200 per hour and 500 per 24 hours. Wait for the time shown in the error, or submit a smaller batch. Upgrading and deleting links do not reset these limits.

If your session expired, sign in again. If an action fails after the page has been open for a long time, refresh the page before retrying. For a rate-limit message, wait before making another attempt.

A link will not save

  • Invalid settings: use external HTTP/HTTPS destinations, weights from 0–1,000 with at least one positive weight, a valid domain and nonnegative expiration values. Visit limits must be whole numbers.
  • Reserved name: use a different 4–40 character name, or leave it blank for an automatically generated one.
  • Allowance exceeded: reduce destinations or batch size, delete unused resources or compare plans. Each link supports at most 10 selected pixels.
  • Potentially unsafe destination: nothing was saved. Use another destination or contact support for a review.
  • Safety checks unavailable: nothing was saved. Try again shortly.
  • Retired domain: choose split.to or a connected custom domain for a new link.

A short link opens the wrong page or does not work

Copy the complete URL from the Dashboard to avoid typing or encoding errors. Check the link’s destination and domain, its expiration settings and whether it was renamed or deleted. For a rotator, check all destinations and weights; repeated requests can choose different pages.

Use /preview to inspect configured destinations without following the redirect. An expired link can display an expiration page or use its expiration destination. If the destination itself fails, correct it through Edit and save.

A custom domain is not connecting

Confirm the hostname is added to your account and that its CNAME points to cname.linksplit.io. Check that the record’s host field matches your chosen subdomain, without a URL scheme or path, and that no conflicting record exists for that hostname.

Allow up to 48 hours for DNS propagation. Adding a domain in LinkSplit does not change your DNS settings. If domain setup or HTTPS still fails, contact support with the hostname and the exact message you see. For a provider-unavailable or in-progress message, retry as directed rather than repeatedly removing and re-adding the domain.

Analytics has no clicks or differs from another tool

Select a wider date range and refresh; recent traffic may take time to appear. Report times are UTC and counts for the current period are still updating. Check monthly usage: when the allowance is reached, analytics and pixels pause even though links continue to redirect.

Previews do not count as routing clicks. Clicks are not unique visitors or conversions, and referrers can be absent. Live activity is temporary and may show only part of your traffic. Destination analytics can differ because of browser blocking, consent, attribution and counting rules.

Pixels do not show events

Confirm the pixel is selected on the link and saved, its platform and ID are correct, and your monthly allowance has not been reached. A saved pixel alone is not attached to every link. Consent rejection, browser privacy controls, extensions or network errors can prevent provider events while a LinkSplit click is still counted.
