Create and download a QR Code
- Open the Dashboard’s QR Codes tab and select Create QR Code, or choose QR Code from Create new.
- Enter a destination URL and give it a name. Enable Also create a short link if you want a shareable short URL as well.
- Choose split.to or a connected custom domain for its QR address.
- Choose a code color from the color orbs, then select Create QR Code.
- Select Download, choose PNG or SVG, and choose an image size for PNG. You can return to the saved code to edit its name or design and download it again.
Each code encodes a permanent address such as https://split.to/qr/abcdef123456. LinkSplit records scans at this address and redirects to its destination. A standalone QR Code does not create an entry in Links or consume a link allowance. An attached QR Code follows its associated link’s traffic split, pixels and expiration settings. You can create a QR Code alongside a link by enabling the QR Code switch in the Link Create/Edit dialog.
Creating a code for a new destination creates one link and uses one new-link allowance. Creating a code for an existing link, downloading again, and editing the design do not use another link allowance.
Track scans
Open Analytics beside a code to see tracked scans over time, destinations, referrers, browsers, devices and operating systems. Associated link reports include these visits and separate link clicks from QR scans. Each tracked visit uses your monthly tracked-click allowance once. Analytics are saved in batches, so new counts may take a few seconds to appear.
A scan means a visit to the QR address, not simply pointing a camera at the image. Opening a copied QR address also counts. Older QR images that encode ordinary short URLs continue working, but their visits cannot be identified as QR scans.
Make the code easy to scan
Choose a dark code on a light background and retain the clear border around it. The editor warns when color contrast is low. Image sizes range from 256 to 2,048 pixels; SVG downloads are suitable for scaling. Before printing, scan the image with a phone to confirm the destination.
Update the destination after printing
For a standalone QR Code, edit its destination URL in the QR editor. For an attached QR Code, choose Edit destinations and routing. Changes apply to its associated link and any other codes using that link. Renaming the link does not change the saved QR address.
Delete disables its QR address without deleting the associated link. Deleting the associated link, link expiration, account restrictions or removing the QR address’s custom domain can stop redirects. Resetting link statistics also clears the statistics of associated QR Codes, but does not restore monthly tracking allowance.
